What are the Steps to Cleaning and Staining My Wood Deck?

I have a wood deck on my house that we haven't done anything with since moving here about five years ago. The wood is still in pretty good shape, but it needs cleaned and stained. I did clean it once with Oxy-Clean, and that seemed to work well. Should I use Oxy-Clean again or regular deck cleaner? Do I apply the stain directly after cleaning the wood? Do I need to put a sealer on top of the stain? I know that I could ask at a home improvement store, but they always want to sell you a boat load of stuff that you may or may not need, likewise a website of a company that sells deck refinishing products.
